Sales and lettings specialist Linley and Simpson, are continuing to act as a driving force behind the York residential property market by helping over 1,340 people move home this year alone.
As the year heads into the last quarter of 2019, the evidence suggests that the business is making a major contribution to the continuing success of the property market. The popularity of York as a place to make home continues to soar and with a population of 223,767 and house prices having risen by 25% in the last 5 years, York is one of the best performing Cities in the country.
In confirmation of a subtle summer bounce, sales levels in August were 0.9% higher than a year earlier, according to HMRC. Mark Sheridan, Senior Branch Manager at Linley and Simpson’s York branch reports, “We’ve had a record number of lets and sales agreed in the first three quarters of the year and this increased activity demonstrates that our sizeable York City Centre team are working tirelessly to ensure further success as the year goes on”.
Mark Christopher, Head of Sales adds, “Average property values by property type over the last 12 months in York are currently outperforming Yorkshire, England and Wales. We believe that the quality of new apartment developments in the York market, such as Hungate- a flagship scheme of 1,025 stylish, modern apartments- are contributing to the premium values that the York market enjoys”.
The property specialists not only hold a passion for helping people move in York, but also strive to make sure that they are giving back and helping others. The business continues to build its relationship with Martin House, having supported the charity for the past 5 years through various fundraising and volunteering events, and have recently handed over £20,000 to the charity after their record year of fundraising earlier this year.
Their latest charity venture has been partnering with Macmillan where they have pledged to donate £100 from every house sold to the charity until January 2020. Becky Read, Fundraising Manager at Macmillan said, “Corporate partners like Linley & Simpson, who have an ongoing commitment to make a difference, enable us to continue to deliver a high quality service to ensure that people with cancer can find their best way through”.
As of last month, the business was crowned the ‘Best Large Estate Agent’ at the Yorkshire Residential Property Awards, held in the prestigious Bowcliffe Hall in Bramham. The awards are a celebration of Yorkshire’s residential property industry and the category recognises the residential agency that has demonstrated an outstanding sales, buying or lettings record supported by unrivalled service and market reach.
