The Windings, a new retirement living scheme in Helsby, near Chester has been completed.
The £8.7m development on Cable Drive, owned and managed by Your Housing Group, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, has 77 one and two bedroom apartments over three floors including 46 for affordable rent, 16 for sale and 15 for shared ownership on a 2.76 acre site.
The development is a joint initiative between Your Housing Group, Cheshire West and Chester Council and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), who contributed £460,000 of funding.
Residents will start moving into their new homes from next month and will be able to enjoy a range of facilities including a communal residents’ lounge, craft room offering a range of weekly activities and landscaped grounds. All the specially designed apartments have wet rooms and well equipped kitchens with built in appliances including integrated oven, hob and extractor fan. There is also an assisted bathroom within the building, for those residents who need a little more help.
Claire Henning, Head of Group Sales at Your Housing Group said: “The Windings completes our trio of retirement living villages delivered for local people in the Chester area. Altogether we have built 450 extra care apartments across the North West as part of our £150m affordable housing programme and we believe we have raised the bar in terms of the standard of accommodation we have provided for retired people in the area”
Funding has been provided by The HCA and Your Housing Group. The contractor was Keepmoat and the architect is Manchester-based Pozzoni.
