Door opens for the first resident of Shrewsbury's newest street

A development of contemporary homes in Shrewsbury town centre that will breathe new life into one of the town’s major gateways has welcomed its first resident.

Susan Jones became the first buyer to seal the deal on a two-bedroom mews house at Albury Place, which is being built on the site of the former Salop Music Centre in St Michael’s Street.

It is now home to a mix of apartments, two bedroom mews homes and three bedroom town houses, within walking distance of the railway station and town centre.

The developer is SY Homes and the selling agent is Monks. The commercial team at Shrewsbury law firm FBC Manby Bowdler provided legal advice for the purchase of the site and its residential property team is acting as the conveyancer for individual plot sales on behalf of SY Homes.

Solicitor Laurie Carruthers said: “We have seen the transformation of this site since originally advising on the purchase of the commercial premises through to managing the sale of the first property.

“It has added some high quality contemporary homes to the marketplace and we look forward to welcoming many more new residents to Albury Place as the property purchases continue.”

Wayne Sidell, Director at SY Homes, said: “This completion marks a significant stage in the development of Albury Place, which is in a prime location on one of the main arteries into Shrewsbury town centre.

“It will inject new life into this area and support the regeneration of the northern gateway, attracting professionals and commuters who are looking for stylish contemporary homes.”

Monks Director Judy Bourne added: “There has been a high demand for these new homes that combine thoughtful and contemporary design with an excellent finish that meets the requirements of today’s discerning buyers.

“Properties of this standard that have such excellent transport links whilst being in such close proximity to the excellent amenities Shrewsbury has to offer are incredibly sought after.”
